Joy is a Kentucky-born Filipina theatre artist. Her commitment to social justice and aiding in the liberation for those historically oppressed are at the forefront of her work.

Joy is a dialect and voice coach working across theatre, television, and film, collaborating with award-winning actors and productions around the world. She has taught in actor-training programs throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and has led the way to more inclusive and identity-conscious approaches to actor training.

Alongside her work in the performing arts, Joy is also an experienced executive presentation and communication coach, supporting international corporate professionals in developing authentic and effective communication.

She holds an MFA in Voice Studies from the University of London's Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where her dissertation earned her a mark of Distinction. She earned her BFA in Acting from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music.

Her article  "Coaching Asian Actors and Asian Accents with Cultural Sensitivity" won the Voice and Speech Review (VSR) Rocco Dal Vera Graduate Research Award. Her book chapter for Stages of Reckoning titled, “Societal Othering of Asian Americans and its Perpetuation Through Casting” is now available, thanks to Routledge’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) series. You may find these articles and more on her Published Works page.

Joy was previously based in London and New York. She now lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband and child.
